My name is Amanda Burgess
I am a qualified registered nurse since 1990. I began my journey in the world of aesthetics 18 months ago and have never looked back since.
I have always had an interest in aesthetics and admired all the work other practitioners had completed but always felt I would never be able to do it and could never achieve the remarkable results that practitioners were presenting.
Then in 2019 I saw an article on social media regarding training opportunities into the world of aesthetics and was so impressed by their presentation that I knew I had to take the opportunity, conquer my fears and complete this aspiration of mine.
Once I had completed the foundations into aesthetics I had caught the bug and knew that I had to start and build on this learning. So I developed a trajectory of my plan to set up my aesthetic business. I have also been very fortunate that I had the backing and the support from my family and friends. The support also from aesthetic support groups has been a major link in providing me with their expertise and knowledge enabling me to further develop my skills and confidence. I believe working in aesthetics helps people to feel good about themselves so I endeavour to offer injectables to refresh, smooth and enhance clients appearances that do not result in a fake look, a natural result is key to my work. Seeing my clients faces look into the mirror after treatment and seeing their smiles brings me so much job satisfaction. A client has commented that it was the first time in years that she actually looked into the mirror and approved of herself. I aim to treat all my clients has individuals and form treatment plans based on this. I always discuss client expectations and explain what treatments are good for one person may certainly not be good for another. I strive to ensure my clients feel at ease and class myself has approachable and friendly but professional at all times.
In March 2020 the lockdown began due to the Pandemic, just as I had started to build my business, this was a major blow but I was determined that this would not deter me in this career pathway. I didn’t want to lose this new found knowledge that I had gained so I started to enrol onto online courses and further build on my knowledge.
My husband believed in me and supported my chosen pathway so was firmly in agreement when I asked if we could convert our garage into a small salon so that I could provide a personal environment that was COVID secure.
